There's a Bunny in My Coffee

It's so cute, no? It's the cappuccino here at the Kangaroo Coffee Company where I'm working online using their free WiFi connection. Pardon the imperfect right cheek of the bunny I stabbed it with a stirrer before I thought of taking a photo of it. The Kangaroo Coffee Company is located along Tiongco Street in Davao City. Photos taken using the N95.

Banana Leaf Asian Cafe Food Trip

4 appetizers 1 soup 9 viands 2 noodle dishes 2 rice dishes 4 desserts TOO MUCH? DEFINITELY! Singaporean Style Prawn Toast That's how much food were served to us when we visited the Banana Leaf Asian Cafe earlier this evening. Of course, we started off with appetizers. My favorite among which was the Singaporean Style Prawn Toast. Mainly because there were sesame seeds on top. White and black! YUMMY! It was a bit greasy but I didn't mind. I also likes the Roti Dog with Mango and Curry Sauce. The curry sauce was a bit mustard-y. Another hit was the Vietnamese Prawn Ball with CHEESE. Shrimp Wanton Soup with Curry Laksa Then we had the Shrimp Wanton Soup with Curry Laksa. It was a bit spicy, with a tinge of sourness which I absolutely loved. The soup was a bit creamy yet very thin and light. The shrimp wantons were also very tasty. Then, dish after dish after dish of viands, rice, and noodles were brought out and served. GRAWRRR! There was pork, beef, chicken, fish, squid, and vegetables. My favorites were the Wok Fried Squid with Basil, the Malayan Beef Curry, and the Macau Style Baked Mixed Vegetables. Sweet…

A Visit to Museo Dabawenyo

Kuya Andrew, Migs, Dom, and I met up this afternoon to visit Museo Dabawenyo. It has been formally inaugurated but i has been open to the public for quite some time. The first floor is home to Indigenous Peoples' Gallery and the Moro Peoples' Gallery where artifacts and photos of the 5 Davao tribes are showcased. It also showcased the colorful arts, culture, and way of living of the people of Davao. The Moro Peoples' gallery was set against a nice mural by the Fine Arts students of a local college. The mural shows an idyllic beach side community in Davao. In the second floor is the Memorabilia Gallery which houses artifacts and information from various points of Davao City's history. My favorite part of the museum was the Nanay Soling Duterte Hall Modern Art Gallery. It contained interesting pieces of art that portrayed the different facets of Davao life and celebrated the tri-people culture of Davao. Tri-people pertains to the three groups of DavaoeƱos which have been living and working harmoniously: the Indigenous Peoples, the Christians, and the Muslims. The gallery also contained my favorite piece in the gallery, a very colorful, eye-catching, piece of art called Sarimanok: It…

My Day

Today I slept at around 3 am, woke up at 6:30 am. Ate breakfast at McDonald's then went directly to the Sangguniang Panglungsod. Was at the city council session until 12 noon. It was, at times, interesting and educational, but also boring and annoying sometimes. Some questions and statements made were just sooo illogical or simply not well thought of (translation: DI PINAG-ISIPAN!). Nonetheless, it was quite amusing. Lunch break was declared at 12 noon and we had to come back at 1:30 pm. I ate yummy beef stew at De Bonte Koe ALONE! At 1:30 pm, the session resumed, and proceeded with haste until it ended at 2:30 pm. I then went to the office, worked online until around 7 pm, then ate dinner with Kuya Andrew at Caffe Vivere. The Chicken Ballentine was yum-yum-yummy! We then went to Kuya's house to continue working but we both realized we were just too damn tired and stressed. So we wrapped up before 10 am, and decided to go to the nearby K1 Spa. Kuya had an aromatic body massage while I had my foot scrubbed and my face cleaned and massaged. I fell into a brief but very refreshing nap.…
