We started the day early as Chattee, Dulce, and I were planning to eat early lunch at PiYESta! so we could be on time for our judging chores. Alas!
Orman picked us up from the hotel to have a sumptuous Filipino lunch with Avel, Marz, Dino, and Sir Johnny Abad at Jams in Mt. Sabrina, Tambler Hills. The view was breath-taking. And even when the sun was working extra hard to make us feel its heat, the air lent a cool breeze which made our al fresco lunch very much enjoyable. And the food… well, how can you go wrong with Nilagang Baka, Grilled Tuna Belly, Grilled Tuna Jaw, and Steamed Pompano? Everything was yummy!
After lunch, we headed to Donna Congson‘s Envy Me Salon to have our hair, make up, and nails done. I was initially hesitant to have my make up done since I have sensitive skin and I easily get allergies with heavy make up. But the guy who did my make up did it so well. It was light and very much complimented my sexy black and red look.
Dulce, Chattee, Donna, Romarie Ivy Cunanan, and I were tasked to judge that day’s pageant: the Queen of Mindanao Festivals. I love the concept of this pageant because each candidate represents not just her town, municipality, or province, but also its festival. It pits not just the candidates but the festivals, as well. The candidates were required to give a dance presentation that would best represent their festival. They were also required to bring a contingent to the Kalilangan 2010 Street Dancing Open Category as well.
This year, there were seven candidates, including two from Maguindanao, one from Sultan Kudarat, one from Saranggani, and General Santos’ Madonna Galang. It was Madonna’s beauty and poise that won for her the title of being the first-ever Queen of Mindanao Festivals.
But before the pageant wrapped up, three surprise guests came together with Mayor Jun Acharon. Liberal Party presidential candidate Noynoy Aquino arrived with senatorial candidates Rep. Teofisto Guingona III and Ruffy Biazon. The three gave their well wishes to the crowd which gave them very good reception.
Bayan Muna party-list Teddy CasiΓ±o was also in the audience earlier that evening.
And to cap off a stressful but enjoyable day, we had dinner at Jo’s Inato and after dinner drinks at PiYESta!. I had already ordered my Red Horse when they offered me yummy Jello Shots and the cocktail drink Gayuma. Both were really good and cheap. Would have loved to have more of those but mixing those with beer would have made me lose my poise. We had yummy Kurat Sticks and Sisig with our drinks.
