I had a feeling it was not gonna be perfect but that it was gonna be a good one. And I was right! CACS Davao Skills Batch 9: Cucina Nueve’s Legacy Buffet was a good one. 😉
We were a bit harried and chaotic during the few hours from closing the kitchen and transferring the food to Linmarr Apartelle, but everything before and after that was done well. Not perfect but more than good enough.
The food was on time, save for the last minute preparations and presentation of the sashimi and maki. (Apologies to my groupmates coz I wasn’t able to fully help out with the Cold Kitchen.) And everything looked delicious. There were some kinks here and there but there weren’t a lot of complaints regarding the food. Must commend the yummy Waldorf Salad, the superb Chicken Florentine, the tasty Roast Beef and the sinful pastry spread. TWO THUMBS UP! Kasali pati big toes!!!
The program was not boring (I hope) and the tarpaulins and videos I made were nice. And the music we played were good enough for the lulls. What made the dinner really beautiful was the very, very, very elegant and bonggang-bonggang set-up by Sul Orchids Flowershop courtesy of our classmate Kim Leuenberger. The venue was originally a big blah but she made it into an elegant venue using white and gold with accents of blue and tomato red. VERY NICE CONCEPT! Executed PERFECTLY!!! It wasn’t too lavish, but it was perfect for the event. LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! And being the maarte batch that we are, Ate Kim also helped the stations set up the dishes nicely with risers and ruffles and shiz. 🙂
I think what made our Legacy Buffet good was not just the food, the program, or the set-up but our individual and collective passion that made all those things possible. And of course, our great working relationship and camaraderie with each other. 24 individuals with different backgrounds, different ages, different cities, different dreams coming together, converging to produce the Cucina Nueve Legacy Buffet.
And it paid off really well. We served our family, friends, and guests well. We didn’t have a chef’s parade but seven of us got “medals.” I told you we wouldn’t disappoint, right? And we didn’t. We may be naughty and noisy and the most pasaway, but we do it coz we’re passionate people, and our passion served us well. The buffet was an event to remember. BRAVO!
Here’s to hoping for more projects and memories with the Cucina Nueve members…. and may we all serve each other and other people well wherever our passion brings us.
I will miss you guys!
Thank you to all my classmates, the CACS Chefs, staff and kitchen assistants, and our sponsors!
