Happy Birthday Daddy!

I have two dads. My biological father, Papa, passed away when I was 5. I barely knew him. My other dad, is my father's brother-in-law who raised me until I was 9 years old. ANYWAY... Daddy celebrated his birthday on December 13. But we had his birthday celebration on December 14. I prepared Paella Alla Majorcana and Beef Stew for the dinner. I cooked the beef stew flawlessly but I almost failed with the paella coz there was just too many seafoods and the rice didn't cook on time. Daddy liked both. Mommy liked the paella a lot. :) Brian and Aimee bought sugarless chocolate cake from their friend. It was very nice. (The polo of the figure looked a little girly though.) And it was very yummy. Didn't notice that it was sugarless. It was an intimate dinner. A nice way to celebrate Daddy's birthday. It was worth the effort and pressure of cooking the nosebleed inducing dishes. Happy birthday Daddy! :)

Being a Duck

November started out with being confined in my aunt's house due to a severe asthma attack, punctuated by a meet-up with an ex, a meltdown caused by politics, cooking and baking for relatives, a couple of poker tournament wins, and a hectic work schedule. Articles. Blog entries. New projects. Deadlines. It's December and the madness continues. I am being like a duck. Calm, smiling, constantly perky and warming up to the new people I meet. But underneath it all is frantic paddling, crazy panic, and random bouts of insecurity and depression. Do not let the smile fool you. Don't let the blog entries and articles deceive you. Let it be known that the blog entries and articles, and amount of work I do is symptomatic of how troubled I am. I fight depression and loneliness by writing. Example... When the Maguindanao Massacre happened, I wrote 3 blog entries, one right after the other. Totally not about the incident. That's how I roll. Paddling... crazy ass fighting of emotions, struggling to beat the odds, to survive this crazy life. As I've told a good friend, I have not been ok for quite sometime, and I have been lonely. But I'm ok…

Talking Heads

Every Tuesday, at 8 pm, I go online just to have my weekly dose of LOLs from my friend Kring Elenzano aka Funny Sexy and her boss Chris Tan. They have this weekly online show, Talking Heads via Flippish, the first and only kick-ass Filipino online channel. In tonight's episode on hygiene, Kring shared.... Video courtesy of Flippishdotcom. LOL! Uhuh! There are more LOLs and craziness to be had people. And Chris Tan... just shared that he was talking in public, on stage for some 30 minutes before somebody told him his fly is open. LOL! Seriously people, if you need to laugh... TUNE IN! Remember the day and time... Tuesdays, 8 pm at http://www.flippish.com/talking-heads/. Photo of Kring by Daniel Tan from FunnySexy.ph.

Tri-people Artwork on display at Museo Dabawenyo in Davao City Mindanao Philippines

This is Mindanao

During a visit to Museo Dabawenyo last year, this piece of art caught my attention. It's a multimedia work by a local artist portraying the three major groups living in Davao City, also representative of the people of Mindanao: the Muslims, the Christians, and the lumads or indigenous peoples. The artwork highlights the differences in beliefs, culture, and lifestyle of the three groups. It is the aspiration of every Davaeoño, every Mindanaoan that these three groups will live in peace together, cooperating to uplift and develop our land of promise... Mindanao. This is Mindanao, a melting pot of cultures, of peoples from different places, of different beliefs, of various lifestyles. It is our hope that we will, together, fulfill the promise, enrich our people, uplift the lives of our fellow Mindanaoans, and cultivate our islands riches. With each other's strengths, respecting and accepting our differences and living with each other harmoniously, we will live the dream, fulfill the promise. Padayon Mindanao! #Mindanao :)

Because of One Message

I lost my reason to smile today. I have been waiting for this moment, this chance. But it won't happen. I am helpless, and I don't know why I even bothered. There will be other chances, other moments... I hope.
