Conversations that Made Me Think

Well, these are not really conversations but exchanges made through the magical powers of technology.

Last week, I was chatting via YM with a DotA player that I was interviewing for my DotA Blog. Let’s call him “B.” We were talking about the game, players, tournaments, my work, and such things. Here’s a truncated version of what happened:

B: Hey! Can I ask you something?
RJ (me): Sure.
B: Do you have a lot of guy friends?
RJ: Yes. I don’t have a lot of female friends.
B: That makes sense.
RJ: Why?
B: You talk like a boy. You’re different from most girls I know.

Ohhhkay….

Fast forward to this afternoon…

My ex-suitor na itatago natin sa pangalang (whom we shall call) “H” sent me an SMS asking about the exhibition games between Malaysia’s Cybertime, and local Teams Ch¡LL and CORPOration. I replied. He didn’t reply for quite a while. Then… (the English geist of our conversation)

H: Ria…
RJ: Yes?
H: You were beautiful yesterday (referring to last Saturday when we saw each other during a tournament).
RJ: Are you drunk again? I’m always beautiful. Your fault… you’re slow. (I was joking.)
H: If you weren’t such a trashtalker and you’re a bit sexier, I would fall head over heels in love with you. I wouldn’t be able to resist you.
RJ: Really? Just you wait. I’m trying to lose weight and trying to minimize my trashtalking and cursing.
H: You trashtalk too much. I’m turned off by it.
RJ: HAHA! I’m really like that. I guess my boyfriend likes me because he hasn’t heard me trashtalk yet.
H: From what uncivilized province/jungle do you come from? How come you act like that? (He actually used bukid in this message.)
RJ: I’ve been like this for a long time. Ever since high school I’ve been hanging out with boys that’s why I’m like this.
H: Really? What a waste… you’re beautiful.

Hmmm….

What you think? What you think? What you think?

I think it’s time that I have more of what Kuya Andrew calls “finesse.”

  1. Hay naku, just be yourself! If a guy really likes you he’ll accept you as you are. Ako, I can be very bakla sometimes, but that’s me, kung ayaw niya huwag niya! I’ve been trying to scare off my Sweetie, but he’s still around and I guess he just really accepts me as I am (which should be the case). Tell that H guy to bug off! Sprayan mo pa ng Baygon haha.

  2. Oh to hell with finesse. There are guys who find “cowgirls” hot. The guys who need girls with finesse and all that prissy stuff are pansies.

  3. @Jon & @Aileen: Better that you both come here and witness Ria at her worst (or best?) To think she holds back when I’m around. I know what I’m talking about so don’t call me a pansy, you … pansy!

  4. Ahaha! No, I’m really that bad. I have to change talaga. Mr. H got humiliated in front of his friends (MARAMI!) coz of me. And I forgot na what I said, basta harsh. Another ex-suitor also got pissed at me last Saturday because I trashtalked him. AHAHA!

  5. I don’t think that there is anything wrong with a girl who can hold her own with the boys. My husband loves that I can have a serious sports conversation with him or the “guys.” He loves that my wit can bite down hard and not let go.

As long as you aren’t like that all the time, but can show softness when the time calls for it, then any guy is lucky to have you. Guys that can’t handle that are just insecure little boys. You don’t need one of those anyway.
