When people ask me why I’m always online and hang out in local cafes, I always answer them: “I’m working.” And this conversation usual follows…
Random Person (RP): What work?
Ria Jose (RJ): Researching, blogging, reading…
RP: Blogging?
RJ: Yup, I’m a professional blogger.
RP: What’s that?
RJ: I earn money from blogging.
RP: How?
RJ: I write then advertisers advertise on my blog.
RP: How?
RJ: {explains how but in simple non-cyber terms.}
RP: How much do you earn?
RJ: Ah… eh… ummm…
Anyway, you get the idea. This conversation happens in face-to-face conversations, through YM, and through SMS. A lot of people are interested in blogging but don’t really know what it is about, or how to go about it. Most of them simply want to earn money. Others are simply curious.
In light of this, and Alleba Advertising and Events‘ goal to increase awareness about blogging and problogging in Davao City, I will be conducting some workshops for small groups of people.
I do not claim to be the best blogger in town. Nor do I think I am a very credible resource speaker in terms of the technical aspects of blogging. But I think I know enough to spread adequate information about the profession. Moreover, I think my simple approach to blogging might make the topic more relatable to those who are not yet into it. Also, the varied topics of my different blogs offer a good (yet not total) view of the different niches a potential blogger could get into.
This serves as an invitation to interested groups here in Davao City and nearby cities. I am open to giving demonstrations and workshops about blogging and professional blogging. I am familiar and can discuss the following topics:
- emo and personal blogging;
- blogging about politics, entertainment, travel, lifestyle, shopping, and gaming;
- blogging and blogs as an educational tool/medium for educators (added September 3, 2007);
- blogging to promote and enhance your products and services;
- earning through Google Adsense, Review Me, Text Link Ads, Amazon Affiliates, and similar programs;
- simple ways to promote your blog online and offline;
- joining and organizing offline blog events;
- and other related topics.
I am also open to conducting these how-tos via YM. For now, I will be conducting these events FOR FREE (for groups of five or less) as I am yet to develop modules for these topics. For more information and queries about this, you may contact me at riajose[@]yahoo.com (sans the brackets).
You can also “market” this as a pre-MBS/pre-MBA event (or post for that matter). Try talking to the local schools, specially the Comm Arts people. You may also want to give blogging as an educational tool spin.
This is a great idea that whose time has come.
@Jun, TY for the encouragement! I don’t have the time to market this offline yet, but hopefully I will soon. TY also for the suggestion!
