I recently had a “falling out” with a friend. He had relayed to me news about some rumors about me. He thinks I got angry at him because of the gossip. The fact is, I am disappointed that he even had the gall to DEFEND the rumors, and would not tell me from whom he heard it from. When I heard rumors about him, I told him about it, consoled him and even told him the names of the people who had talked behind his back. I am not a person who asks to be repaid. The point is, I have been loyal to him, and it hurts me a lot that he is not loyal to me.
It’s very distressing to hear people say nasty things about me behind my back. But it’s more disappointing when a friend who knows the truth defends the rumors and the people saying those things.
I can forgive a lot of things. I am very understanding towards the people I care about. I can let go mistakes and forget trespasses. But if a friend exhibits disloyalty, then that’s when I stop being a friend.
