Aureus Solito's Pisay the Movie Gets Good Reviews

I have been blog surfing and read many reviews about Aureus Solito's Pisay the Movie. And I am so happy that the movie got good reviews. I especially like the review by Elena Dacanay, a Pisay alumna who currently teaches in Pisay. I good goosebumps (and tears almost came) while reading her summary and review of the movie. There's a more objective review by Oggs' Movie Thoughts. I WANNA WATCH IT! Mr. Solito, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE... release this film in Davao City!!! I will watch it at least three times, PROMISE! Sir Martin, another Pisay teacher, has a list of movie reviews by bloggers. To those who still don't know what the movie is about, it's Aureus Solito's (director of THE "Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros) entry to Cinemalaya 2007. I have to movie's short description and summary somewhere in this blog. Coincidentally, I have a Pisay batchmate named Ariz Solito. Ala lang... geekiness... ALAVET! "Cream of the cream of the crop...", "best of the best!!!"

Pisay the Movie by Aureus Solito

When my friend told me about the Pisay Movie, I was apprehensive. I didn't know what to feel. But when I learned that Aureus Solito (of the "Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros" fame) made the movie I suddenly felt ecstatic. The movie might not wholly reflect how my high school experience was, but I think it might be a good approximation. I haven't told anybody but it was my secret wish to make an indie film about studying in Pisay. Part of the top 200 students from all over the Philippines who passed the examination for the Philippine Science High School, an institution created for the purpose of giving a highly-enriched education in the Sciences to exceptionally gifted Filipino children. Selected from the best and brightest from all over the country, they endure college-level courses in biology, chemistry, mathematics, and physics from their sophomore year onwards. Those who can make it are hailed as the future science and technology leaders of the New Republic. They all learn, however, that they…

Lady in the Water

First off, I would just like to say that... I LOVE IT! I DO!!! I REALLY, REALLY DO!!! I fell in love with it even before the end credits rolled.  M. Night Shymalan is a god.  I would love to meet him (and Jerry Bruckheimer) someday. ;) The performance of all the actors were great. Paul Giamatti fits his role perfectly. The direction and editing was perfect. The writing was witty and humorous at the right parts and serious when necessary. But it was really the story that capture my heart. The foreshadowing, the way the plot played out, the minor twists... it was what caught my attention. I can't really explain much because I'm not a film critic... but I love it. I recommend it to all. ;)
