Baking is NOT an Easy Job

Kuya Andrew and I took a baking class at the Center for Asian Culinary Studies here in Davao City. Our instructor was Chef Jun-jun de Guzman, and there were 7 of us in the class. I was tasked to bake Focaccia Bread and French Rolls. Kuya also baked French Rolls and Ciabatta. It was a very educational but also very tiring experience. The kneading was the worst part. ARGH! Luckily, my Foccacia and French Rolls came out great. But the best bread were the Dinner Rolls. Chef Jun-jun also concocted a dip which he only thought of right that moment. It was yummmmmy! We have another class tomorrow. We will be baking whole wheat bread, blueberry bread, walnut loaf, cuban loaf, and potato bread among others. I'm already excited, but scared at the same time. I hope those breads require less kneading. HAHA!

Me Hate

The Paolo Mendoza tagged me with this hate meme... Food: Ummm... I had a hard time with this. But I think it's got to be onions. EW! Fruits: Marang, langka, bananas... Ew! For some reason I don't like uncooked bananas but I love it when it's boiled, fried or in any other form. Veggies: I hate ampalaya because it's very bitter. People: Controlling and demanding people who think they own me. And FC people!!! Event/Situation/Incident: I hate situations where I am forced to choose between two things. TV Shows/Movies: I don't think there's a TV Show I hate. Oh, wait... local TV shows that pretend to be Filipino originals but are actually clones of foreign shows. Music: I agree with Paolo on this one... COUNTRY! Household chores: All except cooking. :P Thing/s around the world: Stupid, greedy politicians, war, limelight-hungry celebs, people who create discord just to be popular... Thing/s about myself: My lack of discipline. Grrr... RAWRRR! I tag Kuya Andrew, Winston, and Jezh.

Breakfast at Mam Bebs

...any time of the day. I'm lucky that Alleba's office is right above Mam Bebs. Mam Bebs is my aunt's bakery and refreshment parlor. And like Ate Aileen, I love Pinoy breakfast food. Actually I love all breakfast food in general. Anyway... I get to eat Pinoy breakfast meals any time of the day... for breakfast, for lunch, or for dinner courtesy of Mam Bebs (minsan even for merienda). The one in the picture above is their Tosilog (tocino + sinangag + itlog) which I had with half a cup of plain rice only, accompanied by a cup of coffee. YUM! The ones below are Mam Bebs' Tapsilog (beef tapa + sinangag + itlog) which I had with half a cup of sinangag, and Mam Beb's Melosilog (meat loaf + sinangag + itlog) which I am having right now only it's not with sinangag but with half a cup of plain rice only. Vocabulary: tocino - cured pork tapa - cured beef sinangag - garlic rice itlog - egg

Usual Suspects Meet Up with the Google Country Consultant

Davao's Usual Suspects Kuya Andrew, Blogie, Dennis, Jun and I, once again had the privilege of being the Google Country Consultant's official Davao GROs. We met up with her last August 7 at the Casa Leticia for dinner at Sagay and chismis bonding. Marc wasn't around though. Later that night, when Jun and Dennis already left, we each opened our laptops, settled into our corners and had a YM conference with each other, joined by our young victims blogger friends Jez and Winston. Yesterday, Kuya Andrew, Blogie, Marc and I again met up with Ate Aileen (blame the kids for that) for lunch at Boyd's. After which, we went to Bruegger's at nearby Wheels n More Drive. It was a fun, fun, fun night and lunch with the guys and Aileen which didn't (for once) involve work. It did for Aileen though coz she had to finish some stuff, but not for the rest of us. Aileen is now back in Manila en route to somewhere else. Come back soon Ate Aileen!!! :D
