Happy 127 Day, NCTzens! It is January 27 (0127) and it is a special day for NCT 127 and NCTzens. To celebrate this day, 127 is sharing their own playlists via the NCT 127 Youtube Channel. Taking their cue, I am sharing also a few of my favorite 127 songs. Specifically, these are songs that I love to listen to on days when I want to just chill and relax. Hope you enjoy my NCT 127 Chill Playlist recommendations.

About 127

NCT 127 is the first fixed unit of NCT (Neo Culture Technology), a KPop boy group managed by SM Entertainment.

NCT’s concept is quite uhmmm… complicated to explain. Just think of them as an unlimited boy group composed of multiple units with different concepts. Some of these units have a specific city “home base” where they do most of their activities and promotions. NCT 127 is based in Seoul, Korea and 127 is the longitude of Seoul. They currently have 9 active members and 1 inactive member.

127 debuted in 2016 with “Fire Truck,” an energetic and powerful hip-hop song. I mention this because Fire Truck, along with all of 127’s succeeding title tracks have been mostly loud hip-hop and experimental songs. And the group has been branded as producing so-called “noise” music. Personally, I call it hype music or party music. Songs I play to wake me up in the morning, while working out, when I am partying, and any time I want to get hyped up. Definitely… not to chill and relax. 

My Favorite NCT 127 Chill Songs

While NCT has definitely owned their unique “noise” sound that I love, NCT has a wealth of other songs in various genres. And yes, they have more relaxed, chill songs that are equally as interesting as their title tracks. Probably not as jarring or “loud and noisy” as their title tracks, but just as good.

But first, do note that what might sound chill for me, might not be what you like to chill to. What I usually include in my chill playlist are peppy, upbeat songs that are light and cheery, mixed with a few sad, melancholic songs. That might be a bit weird for a few people, but that’s how I like it. Just think of it as songs I listen to while working or when snacking or having a glass of iced coffee. Here are some of my favorite NCT 127 chill songs right now.

Love Song

First, I super love “Love Song.”

I love how this song is so perky. It sounds so fresh and optimistic. Quite obviously, it is a love song but it is not overly sentimental. It is an R&B track from Neo Zone. Yes, this song comes from the same album with “Kick It” as its title track.

Also from the same album are Pandora’s Box, Love Me Now, Not Alone, Dreams Come True, and Elevator. All have the same chill vibe but each one with a different sound. Love Me Now is a bit more upbeat than the others but they all belong to the same chill playlist. Give each one a good listen and let me know which one is your favorite.

If you want a slower, sadder song, give “White Night” from Neozone a listen.

Angel

Next is “Angel.” The moment I saw the song performance in Neo City: The Origin, I automatically fell in love with it.

“I’ll be your morning star
And you are my angel”

The beat is just so catchy. And yes, it makes me smile whenever I hear this song. Any time of the day.

Angel is from “Limitless,” 127’s 2nd Mini Album. If you love Angel, you will enjoy Good Thing and Heartbreaker from the same album.

Or if you want a song to cry to, check out “Back 2 U.” Perfect for people trying to move on and move forward. *wink*

Favorite

Finally, I would recommend their latest title track “Favorite.” This is perhaps their only chill title track? Question mark warranted because I am not quite sure.

Anyway, it is a love song that has a catchy beat and a haunting whistle sound which you will probably hear in your dreams. This one is more uhmmm “more lively” than the other songs on the list but it’s slower and a bit toned down compared to other title tracks of 127.

Undeniably, I love “Sticker” more than “Favorite” but this song still holds a special place in my heart. I love it because again, the beat is catchy. It is a song I can listen to whether I want to get hyped up or just chill. I think this song is a great representation of 127’s music in that yes, it is hip-hop with their signature “noise.” But also it is a great showcase for 127’s vocals. Apologies, I am neither a musician nor a music critic. Just listen to the song and you’ll know what I mean. I hope.

Favorite is the repackage of their 3rd Album “Sticker.” Other songs from the “Sticker” and “Favorite” albums that are on my chill list are Pilot, Focus, Magic Carpet Ride, Dreamer, and Road Trip.

I know that NCT music, specifically 127’s sound, is not something that many people appreciate. But it is music I love and enjoy. Yes, I enjoy Sticker and the flute sound, Simon Says and the weird-ass shouting, and Superhuman is simply my jam.

My NCT Chill Playlist

Non-KPop or non-NCTzens should know, however, that NCT, as a group, has such a broad discography. The group has 4 sub-units producing songs of various genres. It is quite possible that among their tracks there is one or more that is exactly your type of music. Not to push NCT down your throat but loud and noisy hype music are not the only songs in their discography. Any music lover is bound to find an NCT song that they genuinely like and enjoy. No matter what their music taste is.

Aside from those I have mentioned above, I have an entire playlist of more than a hundred NCT songs that I listen to when I just want to just chill and relax.

The playlist includes songs by NCT 127, NCT U, NCT Dream, and WayV. Plus some solo and collab songs by NCT members. Beautiful and Faded in My Last Song by NCT U are on the list. NCT Dream’s My Youth and Irreplaceable from the Hot Sauce album are also on it. Plus, King of Hearts, Domino, and Low Low by China-based WayV. These are just some of my top recommendations on my NCT Chill Playlist.
