The Problem with Arrogance

"The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing." - Socrates There are people who argue for the sake of arguing. They discuss things only so they could assert their "intelligence," "knowledge," "wisdom," "superiority," or whatever it is they want people to know about. Fighting and standing up for the truth is one thing, asserting your own opinion and disrespecting and insulting people in the process is another. I consider myself to be a person of substance, willing to stand up for what is true, just, and fair. But I never argue for the sake of arguing. I join in discussions for the sake of letting people know what I know and what I think, but never to rub on other people's faces that I am smarter, better, or more enlightened. There are truths in this life, in this world that are non-debatable and non-changing. No matter how skewed our perception of it is, it does not and will not change. Then, there are opinions, beliefs, things that differ from one person to another. Yes, there are false or, I dare say, false beliefs and wrong opinions. But how am I to say which is false and wrong when…

Lose Your Beer Belly

Because I love Ade Magnaye (but he wouldn't date me... FAIL!), here's my compilation of videos from the set of Lose Your Beer Belly during the Man Blog Banana Gangbang Rock Fest: Two of the songs by my Papa Ade, "Strength in Numbers," and another untitled one. The last song is "Selfish" by Bok Balagtas and RJ Perfecto. And the band also features the first Filipino blogger Lauren Dado who learned how to play the guitar BY HERSELF. Lose Your Beer Belly is composed of vocalist Bok, guitarists Lauren and Perf, drummer Jake Manlulo, and bassist Ade. The BGBRF was held last May 3, 2008 at the Bela Bar along Wilson Avenue in Greenhills, San Juan.

Alleba Politics and MLQ3

After I humiliated myself at iBlog 4 by professing my eternal love fandom for MLQ3, he invited me and several other political bloggers for a night of tete-a-tete over heart-attack inducing food at Barrio Fiesta along Wilson Avenue in Greenhills. So there I was sitting, a few feet from MLQ3 and all I could think about was how I was going to ask him to have a photo taken with me. Juned, Butch and Noemi Dado, Arbet Bernardo, Schumey, and Marck were present. We had a discussion on politics (WHAT ELSE?!), the church, current issues such as the Meralco hoopla, GMA (everybody's person), Martial Law, and federalism. I rarely spoke unless directly spoken too. I had a nosebleed I tell you! I felt so uninformed, and un-opinionated. :( The things I spoke of were mostly about Davao City and Mindanao. The dinner was very intimidating and inspiring at the same time. After it, I vowed to spend more time and effort with my political blog. And I shall not be easily frustrated with it. I hope. Oh, and we did talk about blog and bloggers chismis. HULOLZ! And after dinner, I did have my photo taken with MLQ3 c/o Fritz.…
