Changes and Choices

A few months ago, my high school friend invited some of us batchmates for a despedida (going away) "party." (Party is in quote because there were just four of us.) He was leaving in a few days to go to Singapore. We all thought he will be going there to work. We have talked about it before. He wanted to find work in Singapore because his girlfriend was already working there. As it turns out, while he did quit his job here in Davao City, he is not going to try to actively find work in Singapore. He has already decided to stay here, and just to there to visit his girlfriend. My friend decided to stay here, because he suddenly realized that he didn't want to spend the rest of his life as an architect employed by a big company. Rather, he wanted to build his own company with his family. All his brothers and his one sister are engineers or taking up a related course. Now, he is back from Singapore, full of stories about his vacation. And full of ideas for the company he is going to build. Last time we talked, I felt his anxiety. He…

Single Again

We didn't fight, we didn't have any misunderstandings. It just had to happen. Long distance relationships are hard. Ours was made more complicated by personal problems, both his and mine. We thought it would not be as hard breaking up as friends. But it is... it's hard and painful. But it had to happen. Blogging about it seems hard. It makes things seem real and final. But I have to. This is one part of me, of my life I have to share. For now, this is all I can say. But expect more drama and emo in the coming days.

My Family Featured in the Local Newspaper

A few weeks back, we celebrated the birthday of my maternal grandaunt, Tia Alot's 80th birthday. It was a grand celebration held at the Marco Polo Hotel. All of us girls were FORCED to wear dresses while most of the guys wore their best "smart casual" attires. A few days ago, a local daily had a full page feature in the event. And there was a picture of our family, the Abella Family, to accompany the article. Click on the photo to see the full-sized pic. Kuya Andrew and Gwing are also in the photo. Can you spot us? Oh, diba? Bongga! AHAHA!

Saan Na Nga Ba'ng Barkada?

When I saw this on TV weeks ago... I remembered and missed these guys... HUHU! The song is Saan Na Nga Ba'ng Barkada originally by the Apo Hiking Society sung by Spongecola. The guys in the picture are some of my classmates in PSHS-MC Batch '99 Technology Stream. We were classmates from second to fourth year high school. If you're looking for somebody to blame for my boyish ways... blame them. HAHA! When I first saw my name along with theirs lumped in one section, I cried. Seriously... I cried. I was in the section with five other girls with twenty-four boys. ARGH! I hated boys and their annoying ways back then. But as time passed by, I developed a weird kind of fondness for them as if they were my brothers. Some of them were my kuyas, but most of them were my little brothers whose assignments, projects, and even love letters I had to do for. High school was a wild, wild, wild rollercoaster ride of emotions. These guys have seen me at my worst. And luckily, they were dumb enough to stick with me. Now, I miss them more than ever. SAAN NA KAYO BOYS and GIRLS…

Going out Tonight

My oldest nephew, Dave, is here from abroad and the Jose Family is having dinner at Harana Restaurant tonight. Then, my cousins and I are taking out Dave for drinks and more. YEY!!! Tonight is one of those few moments this coming days that I will be able to get away from work and everything related to work. Hopefully, we'll have fun.
